A Seaside Sunset Stroll

The sand is still warm beneath bare feet, holding the day’s last heat as the sun dips toward the horizon. Waves roll in, their crests catching the fiery orange and pink light of the sunset, before crashing into foam against the shore. Seagulls cry overhead, wheeling and diving as they hunt for the last fish of the day. A group of children builds a sandcastle, their laughter mixing with the sound of the waves. The air smells of salt and coconut sunscreen, of distant grilled seafood and the tang of the ocean. As the sky deepens to purple, the first stars begin to prickle through the dusk. It is a moment of simple joy—a reminder that the most beautiful things in life are the ones we can hold only for a little while, before they slip away like the tide. Word count: 199
