Exploring a Historical Lighthouse

Last summer, I visited a historical lighthouse on the coast. It was built in 1880, and it still stands tall on a rocky cliff. I took a tour inside—we climbed 120 narrow stairs to the top, where the big lens was. The guide told us the lighthouse used to warn ships about the rocks at night; the light could be seen 20 miles away. From the top, I could see the ocean stretching out to the horizon—waves crashing against the rocks, seagulls flying by. There was a small museum at the bottom with old photos of the lighthouse keepers and their families. I learned that keepers used to live there with their families, taking turns to light the lamp every night. Visiting the lighthouse made me feel like I was stepping back in time. It’s amazing to think about how it kept sailors safe for so many years.
