Class Science Experiment: Making a Volcano
My group did a volcano experiment for science class last week. We used clay to make the volcano shape—brown for the mountain, red for the lava. Tom mixed baking soda and red food coloring inside. I poured vinegar into the volcano. The “lava” bubbled out, red and foamy. The whole class gathered around to watch. Our teacher asked us to explain how it works. I said, “Baking soda and vinegar make gas, which pushes the lava out.” We won “Best Experiment” in the class. I took photos of the volcano and showed my parents. The experiment was fun and taught me about chemistry. I learned that science experiments are a great way to learn new things.
