My Experience Helping at a Animal Shelter

I volunteered at an animal shelter last Saturday with my class. The shelter has dogs, cats, and even a rabbit. My job was to walk the dogs and feed the cats. I walked a golden retriever named Max—he was so friendly and pulled on the leash. I gave him a treat when we got back. I fed the cats canned food—they meowed loudly when they saw me. A small kitten climbed into my lap and fell asleep. I petted it gently. We cleaned the cages and changed the bedding. It was messy, but it felt good to help. The shelter worker said we made the animals happier. Before leaving, I adopted a small black cat. I named her Midnight. Helping at the shelter taught me to be kind to animals. I now take good care of Midnight. I want to volunteer at the shelter again next month. I’ll bring treats for the dogs and cats.
