Participating in a School Volunteer Day at a Nursing Home

I volunteered at a nursing home with my classmates last Saturday. My task was to chat with the elderly and help them with small things. I talked to Grandma Li, who told me stories about her youth. She showed me old photos of her family. I helped her comb her hair and read a newspaper aloud. Other classmates sang old songs and danced. The elderly clapped and joined in. We brought them fruit and handmade cards. Grandma Li held my hand and said I was like her granddaughter. By the end of the day, I was tired but happy. This volunteer day taught me to respect and care for the elderly. They need company, and small acts of kindness can make them feel warm.
